Wool on wool - Turkey - Second half 20th century

Beautiful large Kilim rug with bright colours in a geometrical pattern.
This typical Turkish Kilim rug is often used as a decorative tapestry.

The name Kilim is Turkish and comes from the Persian "gelim". The word "kilim" is the name of a certain weaving technique. Kilim rugs are woven from sheep's or camel's wool. Because this technique is used, kilims always have a low pile. Due to the fact that kilims were handwoven in the past, some of the rugs have over 10 different colours

There is visible damage to the fringes on 1 side.
The photos serve as part of the description.
