Painting with commemorative medals.
We can see the soldier René Ancelin, posing with his sabre model 1882, for the photograph that appears in the centre of the set.
On the left we have an officer-grade legion of honour that was awarded to him in 1966 and made headlines in the newspaper.
On the upper side we have a 1914-1918 war cross with a bronze star for having been cited for his courageous actions at the regiment level.
On the lower right side we have the agricultural merit medal that was awarded for his work in the agricultural field since he was an agricultural engineer.
It is undoubtedly a very unusual memory since normally we do not know anything about the lives of those who appear in the photographs and here we see it from the war of 1914 up to their old age thanks to the newspaper.
