Flexameter for Leica screw cameras.
Several reflex viewfinders with which the distance could be measured were made for the Leica rangefinder cameras by third parties. E.g. the Megoflex, the De Morney Budd, and also the Flexameter offered here.
Just like the Leica, the Flexameter was manufactured in Wetzlar by the Kühn company. Kühn. Ernst Leitz II's sister was married to Kurt Kühn who had a factory that manufactured camera accessories, including this Flexameter.
It works like this: put it on the accessory shoe of a Leica screw. Focus on the ground glass; use the built-in loupe for precise focus. On the focus the measured distance can then be read. You then transfer it to the lens of the camera. A complicated system, which wasn't very pure either. That's why not many were made and even less have survived.
This one works and is pretty accurate. For the external condition, see the pictures. The Leica II on which the Flexameter is placed is not part of the lot and is exclusively for demonstration purposes.
