Description: The Virgin, in the centre, is sitting on a throne of clouds and she hands a chasuble to the male character kneeling at her feet. In the background the Holy Trinity observes the scene and in the foreground St. John the Baptist with the mystical lamb, Mary Magdalene, St. Catherine of Alexandria and an angel accompany the main characters.
Iconography: San Ildefonso was Archbishop of Toledo in the early 7th century. He was one of the great bishops of the Visigothic era. His relics rest in Zamora Cathedral. The most famous episode of his life is the appearance of Our Lady, who according to tradition gave him a beautiful chasuble.
Author: Circle of Pedro de Raxis El Mozo. He excelled as an image polychromator. He was considered as an outstanding painter, he is one of the teachers of the Sevillian school who marked the transition between the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.
