Ancient Roman Bronze Figure of a Mercury (Hermes), wearing a winged hat- petasus and a purse in his right hand ( as a god of trade, heraldry, merchants, commerce, roads, sports, travelers) and Caduceus also a fluttering chiton in the left.
Masterfully made from the skillfully ancient hand with a fine and exquisite style, elegant movement (not static!) and with perfect proportions.
The figurines of Mercury are probably one of the most common in the antiquity but they are really rare in this beautifull style balanced proportions.
Left hand and the half of the Caduceus- broken in antiquity.
The embossed metal over the right foot is probably a pedestal for the rooster the sacred animal of God Mercury.
A lovely olive green natural patina and almost intact.
