A stunning blackware kylix (drinking bowl) with a classic shape that presents two sublime loop handles. The tondo of the flat shell is stamped with eight stylised palmettes arranged symmetrically around a central circle. Everything is supported by a concave foot decorated with concentric circles on the outside. Simple yet elegant, the black glaze presents a breathtaking silver shimmer that is practically glassy.
Condition: Restoration on a handle, as well as a shard on the edge reinserted, otherwise intact.
Provenance: 1993 from the German art trade, before that German private collection of the 30/50s. Proof of origin at Catawiki.
