Large Messapian Amphora, Puglia, approx. 5th/4th century B C, height 23 cm. in diameter 20 cm in diameter foot 10 cm Ring-shaped foot, bulbous, two-handled vessel, flat shoulder, wide neck. Beige clay with red-brown decor in horizontal striped bands, on the shoulder a wavy band and two carved circumferential lines On the lip vertical lines

Condition: Except for a chip at the lip, in a flawless condition.

Provenance: 1996 from the German art trade, before that German private collection of the 50/60s. Proof of origin at Catawiki.
