A very rare painting on copper possibly made by a German artist between the end of the 18th century and the beginning of the 19th century.
This beautiful painting shows the ability of the painter especially in the depiction of the saint’s face, this artist has surely acquired his technique after observing Venetian art and Italian 16th century painting as he was under the spell of Paolo Veronese.
The movement of the clothes of the angels and the pose of the one on the right hand side of the painting are very delicate and iconic.
The copper bears on the verso an old illegible inscription.
Some retouches and old lacks of painting are present.
