Gabriel Godard was born on April 28, 1933 in Delouze, Lorraine. Self-taught, he began painting in 1950: at first figurative, he soon considered the subject only as a pretext for composition. He became an abstract painter starting 1986. Many of his paintings were acquired by the State for the Museum of Modern Art in Paris. He made tapestry cardboards for tapestries made in Angers and Aubusson. Winner of several awards.
