Lion - Bronze (patinated) - 16th century

Description
Lion - Bronze (patinated) - 16th century
Flanders

A small cast and patinated bronze lion or "lion couchant" lying down, with the head raised and an archaic look on its face, which is beautifully detailed with an open-work mouth. Judging from the holes in the back, this lion was probably a support of a small casket or a candlestick originally.

Flemish. 16th century.

Dimensions: L 6cm ; W 2,5cm ; H 3,8cm
