FRENCH VICTORIAN LINEN TABLE LINEN (9) - Linen - First half 20th century

Description
FRENCH VICTORIAN LINEN TABLE LINEN (9) - Linen - First half 20th century
France

A superb piece of table linen in pure linen.
It is beautifully embroidered in rather "prime colours" like red, green and blue and yet the colours "mellow" very well together.
The open "lattice" frames offset the embroidery very well.
The "garland" like circles with blue bows together with the prime shades are beautifully composed and particularly the lattice circle in the centre of each garland gives the whole a very pleasant effect.
There was spare fabric with this table linen so we have made 8 matching serviettes - 4 with the garlands and 4 with just small posies of flowers.
( please look at the photos, we have provisionally folded the pieces to give you some idea what they will look like.)
