BIOGRAPHY: Gérard VIELLEVIE is a French artist painter, born in La Queue Les Yvelines, near Paris in 1939. He studied at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. Studying classics and a former student of the renowned Lycée National des Artistes Décoratifs in Paris, he is inspired by post-impressionist art and created sculptures and mosaics based on his inherent interest in this style. He started creating bas-reliefs, sculptures and frescoes for many schools and town halls in cities such as Paris, Cannes, Strasbourg, Lille and St. Tropez, which now exist in many hotels in these cities. He was close to the painter Paul Aïzpiri.
True to the tradition of the main post-impressionist painters such as Van Gogh, the work of Vieillevie is made up of still lives, lush gardens and flora. His work has been exhibited in Paris, Tokyo, Osaka and Seoul, and he received the Gold Medal of the International Lion's Club for painting (1974). He died in 1992. In 1993, a major exhibition at the Katia Granoff gallery was posthumously dedicated to him.
