Maria Semmer's research is in the intimate relationship with Nature, looking for our origins. Expressing states of mind and moods, she uses stories and dreams images, suspended between reality and an oniric world. She's inspired by dreams, where whatever is hidden becomes clear in a limitless world, full of contradictions and mystery, immerging often herself in this other dimension, following spontaneusly the strem of her fantastic imaginary...

Maria Semmer was born in Germany in1979. After studying graphic design and photography in Nuremberg, Berlin and St. Petersburg, she became a fine art photographer and moved to Rome. Her work has evolved including her active performance, interacting with other subjects or hidden in the contest. Since then, her work has been exhibited in several galleries and museums including solo exhibitions, such as “Crepuscular” MUSPAC Museo Sperimentale d’Arte contemporanea (L’Aquila), “Sanctuary” Galleria Gallerati (Rome), “Dreamers” Hybrida contemporanea gallery (Rome), and has been published in magazines, catalogues and photo books. Currently, Maria Semmer lives and works in Germany and Italy.
