This superb chimney piece came to us from the Convent of Sainte Catherine which is Pas de Calais , Northern France.
The convent, although still operating will be closing its large oak doors for good as it is now operated by only two remaining Nuns.
It is a beautiful piece and could have served as a altar piece at the adjoining Chapel. The fleur de lys and crochet edges are very well executed.
We have put the piece on a chimney to show you, but of course it has other destinations also like a valance for curtains etc.
