Byzantine hand grenade, 9th-10th centuries.

Ceramic.

Dimensions: 15.5 x 7,5 cm in diameter.

Hand grenade made of ceramic, shaped like a spinning top or synthesised shell, decorated with concentric and geometric lines. It comes from the Byzantine empire, and is dated between the 9th and 10th centuries.

Purchased by the current owner in 2018 in London UK from an art gallery, previous, private collection owned before 80's.
