Antique handmade Dutch silver tobacco box.
The lid of the box is exceptionally beautifully crafted and decorated with an old Dutch scene in relief.
The scene consists of a 19th century Dutch village with a small church and features many beautiful details such as:
House and church tower in the background, detailed trees and shrubs, a man is hanging out of the door, horse and cart by a trough, a man sitting on a barrel etc etc.
The sides are also decorated with detailed floral petal and flower patterns.
Nicely fully Dutch hallmarked and marked with silver hallmarks:
Grade mark lion.
Assayer’s mark Minerva head with the letter H for Arnhem.
Date letter V for 1930.
Maker’s mark BWE = B.W. van Eldik and A.F. van de Scheer (Hollandia silversmith) Zutphen
The dimensions are 8.5 x 5.2 cm.
The box weighs 72.00 grams.
The lot is in exceptionally beautiful and intact condition without dents.
The lid closes perfectly.
Due to its beautiful shape and detailed finish and decor, it is a striking and particularly decorative object but can also simply be used.
