Cornelis Brandenburg was born in 1884, in Wormerveer.
In the year 1902, he moved to Amsterdam and studied at the Teekenschool for Kunstambachten.
He worked at “De Distel” in Amsterdam as a painter of pottery.
Thereafter, he concentrated fully on etching and became the most important etcher of the canals of Amsterdam.
He produced more than 100 etchings of Amsterdam and the archives of Amsterdam own more than 60 of them.
He died in Amsterdam in 1954.
A book was published with all his etchings.
