Description
2 lengths of C19th Chinese Silk Jacquard. KESI (2) - Silk - Flowers, butterflies, dragonflies - China - Qing Dynasty (1644-1911)
Good condition, see description - 0×220×185 cm

Two pieces of Chinese red silk jacquard-weave cloth. While they are the same shade or red and share many similar floral motifs, they are subtly different. I have included photographs of the backs, which show the 'floats' (the threads used to produce the pattern) from the jacquard process:

190 x 82 cm. This includes some butterfly motifs. Most of it is in good strong condition, but has become weakened and darkened at some points around the main fold (please see photographs)

130 x 103 cm. This features some spider motifs amongst the flowers. This piece is more fragile than the larger piece, with some weak points and holes at some points where the jaquarded motifs join with the red grounding fabric (please see photographs for indicative examples).
