Pongdudu warrior mask - Boa - DR Congo

Pongdudu warrior mask - Boa - DR Congo
1st half 20th century - Vintage - used with visible signs of wear

31 cm.
Former collection Belgium; it would have been collected during a trip of an employee of the UMHK (Mining Union of Upper Katanga) in the region of Goma.

The Pongdudu masks cannot be mistaken because of their characteristic allure.
We can recognise these by their expression, strongly marked by a wide smile, often toothed like it is the case here, and especially by the famous protruding ears, which can sometimes be articulated.
It seems that these masks were worn by the bravest warriors.

Shipment within 24 working hours.
Track & trace included.
With acknowledgement of receipt.
