Josep Moscardó was born in Barcelona in 1953. He was Catalan painter and engraver.
He studied at the Escuela de Bellas Artes de Sant Jordi, in Barcelona.
Josep Mo paintings are essentially luminous. The subjects treated by this great colourist alternate between urban sights and landscapes. He is in love with Paseo de Gracia, the vicinity of the Tibidabo, the port, and other favourite environments in Barcelona, as well as Cadaqués, Menorca or the French Riviera.
Whatever the environment, he always knows how to find the best framework due to his mastery of perspective. The richness of his palette continually surprises us. He likes to include elements of life in his compositions: people, animals or means which give his works a direct sensation of proximity, and this makes it more attractive.
In fact, his paintings penetrate in the complexity of light and colour, both in daily as in night atmospheres. He is faithful to painting from nature, he shows us an optimistic view of his surroundings and his trips. His painting, with some fauve influences, is expressive and conversational, understandable, open to the presence of the figure of the urban landscape. Moscardo is one of the few artists that sill paint from nature nowadays, and who are able to capture the poetry of daily life.
For a long time already, the original graphic work is also an important part of his creation. Since 1998 he is linked to La Palmera, a workshop of artistic serigraphy.
He has held individual exhibitions in the United States and Spain, and he has participated in group exhibitions in the United Kingdom, United States, Hong Kong, Japan, Spain, Italy and Switzerland, among other countries.
