Russian Empire - 1881 - For Good Behaviour and Success in Sciences - Gold - Engraver A. Griliches
Medals with prizes and scholarships from the Russian sovereigns were instituted in girls' schools from the very beginning of the establishment of these institutions in Russia. Even under Peter 1, the best students were noted with monetary incentives. Sovereign Maria Feodorovna continued the glorious tradition of the Russian autocrats by awarding the best students of women's educational institutions. But with all the number of award medals issued, in good condition - and indeed - not many of them have survived to our time. This beautifully preserved specimen deserves the attention of the most biased collectors.
