A very fine bowl signed Ryokuzan - Satsuma - Ceramic - Japan - Meiji period (1868-1912)

An exceptional Satsuma bowl, measuring 18.6cm, in diameter and weighing 582g, exquisitely painted in decor of an artist and his patron watching his painting coming to life, the imaginary scene featuring several figures including Shoki among them, under a parapet of wisteria. This is an example of Satsuma painting of the highest quality.
Finely painted to the outside with large phoenix over a sea of flowers. Signed to the underside Ryokuzan within flower-shaped cartouche.

Condition: Excellent, no damages or repairs.
