Ancient Roman Bronze Legionary Ring with Aquila Wings

Roman Legionary bronze ring, circular bezel decorated with stylized 'Aquila wings'.

The eagle was a powerful symbol to the Roman military. With each Roman legion a special eagle-bearer (aquilifer) had the honor of carrying the Legionary Eagle standard into battle and to guard its existence.

Outside diameter: 21,6 x 21,3 mm
Inside diameter: 18,9 x 18,5 mm

Condition: good solid condition, signs of wear consistent with age and use. See images for own impression.
