¶ Tirade is a Dutch literary magazine, founded by publisher G.A. van Oorschot in Amsterdam in 1957. It still appears at this publishing house. The magazine adhered to the tradition of Forum and Libertinage, also published by Van Oorschot, and advocated a personalistic starting point, as a result of the pre-war ‘vorm of vent’ discussion: the personality of the writer was considered more important than the refined form of work.
Tirade has had editors such as Gerard Reve, Adriaan Morriën, Joke Smit, Nicolaas Wijnberg, Willem Jan Otten and Robert Anker, but the influence of publisher Geert van Oorschot always remained dominant, to such an extent that the editors stepped down a few times and Van Oorschot himself took over the editorial work. Numerous authors contributed, including Joop Goudsblom (who coined the name of the magazine), Remco Campert, Chr. J. van Geel, Rob Nieuwenhuys, H.A. Gomperts, Rutger Kopland, Renate Rubinstein, M. Vasalis, Aad Nuis and Henk Romijn Meijer.
