Original engraving, etching and drypoint, image size 11.4 x 11.4 cm and sheet size 14 x 13.8 cm with wide margins of approx 2 cm.
18th-century on fine laid paper in excellent condition, signed on bottom centre “Av.Ostade” and dateable between 1650 and 1654.
Round engraving depicting a scene of slaughtering a pig in a dark courtyard; adults and children watch closely as a child with a candle in his hand lights up the scene.
