Description
Valascus Alvarus [De Velasco Alvarez Gabriele] - Tractatus De Iure Emphyteutico - 1591
Law - Quantity: 1 - Book

Late 18th-century binding, green half leather and decorated paper; author and title in gold on the spine, fillets, friezes and quadruped in gold on the compartments; blue sprayed edges. 1 blank sheet; 19 unnumbered pages, including the cover page with title and woodcut typographic brand; 270 numbered sheets with text on two columns. First edition of this rare legal work written by the Portuguese Alvarez de Velasco and dedicated to Cardinal Paolo Camillo Sfondrati, future bishop of Cremona. The text is a law treatise dedicated to emphyteusis on agricultural properties, a real right that gives the beneficiary the right to enjoy a property or land, under the obligation to pay a fee and to improve the good itself. The work was deemed so worthy that it became a reference for works on the same subject published later. Overall in good condition, slight discoloration at the plates of the beautiful binding, minor stain on the bottom corner of the first pages, very slight stain in the top centre throughout nearly the entire volume, far from the text.
