* Josine van Waterschoot van der Gracht was a descendant of a wealthy Belgian-Dutch patrician family. Around 1910 she made her own journey - perhaps inspired by Abraham Kuyper's journey through the Mediterranean in 1905, resulting in the book ‘Om de oude Wereldzee’ - along the coastal cities of North Africa and to Constantinople, making diary entries. The drawings in the book show that she was also an artist of some distinction.

With:

- Dr. C. Snouck Hurgronje - Nederland en de islam. Vier voordrachten gehouden in de Nederlandsch-Indische Bestuursacademie - Leiden, E.J. Brill, 1911 - XVI, 101 pp. Sewn, original printed cover (24.5 × 16 cm).
Condition: some minor foxing on the endpapers; otherwise in good condition.
