2 imperial folio engravings, hand coloured.

44 x 28.5 cm

EXCEEDINGLY RARE!!!

In 1787 the printer Venanzio Monaldini published a series of fine engravings representing paintings of vases of the ancient Etruscans from various Italian museums.

The work is exceptionally rare and issued in a tiny quantity.

This work was one of a number published in the eighteenth century which saw the Etruscans as pioneers, artists and inventors whose achievements were overshadowed by the Romans. Passeri also contributes in this work to contemporary discussion on the Etruscan and Oscan languages.

Excellent example on fine paper. Minor age toning to lower margin (outside plate mark).
