Kees Scherer was a prominent Dutch photographer and contemporary / colleague of Ed van der Elsken, Cas Oorthuis, Eddy Pothuma de Boer. He has many publications to his name in major magazines, such as Avenue and various photo books, and has traveled to more than 20 countries. In 1955, he was one of the three initiators of World Press Photo.
