BATIK TULIS JAVA INDONESIA
Beautiful batik sarong in the Indo-European style from an Indo-Chinese workshop in Kedungwuni.
Signed ‘Tan Gin Nio’ Kedoengwoeni (sic. / old, Dutch, spelling).
I think this piece was actually used by a Straits Chinese (Nyonya) family in Singapore or Penang.
Batik Tulis: completely drawn by hand
Kedungwuni, Java, Indonesia
106 x 196 cm
Very good. Some slight foxing, but overall very good.
Colours are rich and vibrant.
Collected the 1980 in Southeast Asia.
