Additional biographical context for Bruno Tosi
Born in 1937, Bruno Tosi was largely inspired by the 1950s. In the post-war period, the lens of modernism focused, in international terms, on developments in New York City. World War II had brought many prominent creatives to the city in exile from Europe, leading to an important combination of talent and ideas. Influential Europeans who came to New York and inspired American artists included Piet Mondrian, Josef Albers, and Hans Hoffmann, who laid the foundation for much of the explosive growth. It can be said that the 1950s was dominated by abstract expressionism, a form of painting that prioritised expressive brushstrokes and explored ideas about organic nature, spirituality and the sublime, with great quality and expressive colours, with mouldings both of aluminum, and with dimensions .... of 30 x 20 the work alone and 56 x 46 with included moulding, some signs on the mouldings not on the work, come from a private collection, they are sent perfectly packaged taking care of the works, the price on which I rely on is for recent international auctions, the pair are sold together.
