A very nice couple of Tang dancers, delicately modelled and painted in ceramic.
Crouching or kneeling dancers, performing with long free flowing sleeves, are typical of small scale, private sculpture of the Tang period.
This couple of statues, in good conditions (minor restorations are normal in a piece of archelogcal origin) and with much left of the original polichromy, are specially valuable for the grace of the movements and the sensitive painting of the face feautures.
