The exhibition is about the experimental work of the group International Situanists. Jacqueline de Jong was very active in that group.
In 1960 she joined the International Situationists. After Constant Nieuwenhuijs and his group were forced to leave the organization, De Jong formed the Dutch section. Between 1962 and 1968 Jacqueline de Jong was editor and publisher of The Situationist Times, a project in which Gaston Bachelard, Roberto Matta, Wifredo Lam and Jacques Prévert were also involved. From the beginning of her activities as an artist, sculptor and graphic artist, her work has been exhibited throughout Europe and the United States. Among other things, she created murals for the Stopera in Amsterdam and an installation for the Nederlandsche Bank.
In 2003, the Cobra Museum for Modern Art in Amstelveen and the KunstCentret Silkeborg Bad Denmark showed a retrospective of her work, in which the catalogue Jacqueline de Jong: undercover in the Arts was published.
In 2019, the French Aware Prize was awarded to her for her "exceptional career and oeuvre" and a major retrospective of her work, entitled Pinball Wizard, took place at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam. (source: Wikipedia)
