Very expressive shamanic mask of the Newar of the plains of south west Nepal
This type of mask is often confused with similar masks from the island of Timor in Indonesia. Its use is here devoted to various cults including medicine.
The expression of the mask is given by three orifices: two representing the eyes the other the mouth. The nose is barely cut. We could confuse it with a Nepalese mushroom mask.
Very light wood with black patina.
