Arrow holder container (1) - Bamboo, Hardwood, Rattan - Dayak - Kalimantan, Indonesia

Description
Arrow holder container (1) - Bamboo, Hardwood, Rattan - Dayak - Kalimantan, Indonesia
Mid 20th century - Good

This is an extraordinarily beautiful and old example of an arrow container made of bamboo material, as used by the Iban Dayak people in north western Borneo. Note the extremely delicate, figurative belt clip made of black hardwood and the very finely braided old cords!

This figuratively carved, ornate container was used by the DAYAK men in the traditional hunts for birds and small monkeys! Poison arrows were typically fired with blowpipes.
