The Butterfly Chair by Fritz Hansen was designed by Arne Jacobsen. In 1955 he presented the Series 7 Chair, model 3107, after the great success of the 'Ant' chair.
For the Butterfly Chair, Arne Jacobsen used a new technique which allowed wood to be bent in three dimensions. The Butterfly Chair became a huge success and established the reputation of Arne Jacobsen and Fritz Hansen for good. This chair has been highly popular up to the present day.
This set of Butterfly Chairs are made in beech colour with chrome tubular frame legs with black floor caps at the bottom.
The chairs are in good, used condition with some signs of wear on the seat, which are captured in the photo series. One chair misses two floor caps (surely still available). One leg is somewhat slanted but the chair stands firmly and does not wobble.
Back height approx. 79.5 cm
Seat height 47 cm
Widest part of the seat is 46 cm.
The chairs can be picked up in Bilthoven, the Netherlands. Optional transport can be arranged in consultation and at the buyer's risk and expense.
