Ivo Kamphuis - Dose Forst Bentheim

Description
Ivo Kamphuis - Dose Forst Bentheim
assembly of animal bones - Hand signed - original - 1994

In his paintings and sculptures, Ivo Kamphuis uses toys and skeletons of wild animals, which he has freed from poaching traps. He takes the carcasses to his workshop where they are incorporated into oil painting assemblages or bone sculptures. By reusing and revitalizing bones and skulls in his art, he gives them new life.

Kamphuis's work is about metamorphoses, transformation processes and transfers of the soul. The artist makes phantom animals from the remains of dead animals.

The central theme is the artist's fascination with the remains of dead animals, with hunting, with a murderous man who considers himself superior as the ruler of creation and allows himself to commit the most heinous crimes against animals.
