Very beautiful “roaring lioness” sculpture in patinated bronze and signed on the base by Thomas François Cartier (1879-1943).
Thomas François Cartier embodies the French animal sculptor of this period in all its splendour. Born in 1879 in Marseille, he participated in and won different competitions in Paris. Gold medal winner in 1927, he distinguished himself with his felines, carved in a strong and energetic style, often threatening and in hunting postures.
This particularly expressive lioness is perfect in terms of proportions and harmonious balance.
