High quality and rare large keyaki-wooden mizuya. Keyaki or Japanese Zelkova is a precious hardwood used in Japan for high quality purposes. For example in houses, musical instruments and furniture. This chest, with beautiful original patina and grain, has not only the panel of drawers and sliding doors made of Keyaki wood, but also the front of the frame. That is rare! This chest must have been very expensive to make when it was created more then 150 years ago (Bakumatsu period). The original hardware is also thick and of high quality. This chest comes in two sections, above: two sliding doors; below: six small drawers behind sliding doors and four drawers. In very nice original condition.

Certificate of Authenticity will be added.
