British 1950s vintage floor lamp designed as a studio / stage lamp.
This iconic example of British design was created by the Strand Lighting Company at their Covent Garden factory in West End London.
The Patt 23 (Long Nose) Profile Spotlight - was one of the workhorses of the theatre industry from the 1950s to the 1980s.
Unfortunately, most of them have been lost or destroyed and the undamaged copies are rare examples of an original British industrial classic.
They were used in the Palace Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue in London, among others.
They were used for many years during famous performances, including: The Sound Of Music, Cabaret and Les Miserables...
The light is designed excellently and has a ventilated casing, 360 degree rotation, internal reflectors and an iconic design.
This lamp has an extendable lens tube with a large 6 inch convex lens.
We are proud of the restoration, because the light represents a unique and rare piece of design history.
