A very fine Satsuma jardiniere with figures in landscape scenes - Satsuma - Earthenware - With mark 'Hotoda zo' 保土田造 - Japan - Meiji period (1868-1912)
An excellent Japanese satsuma jardiniere finely painted with two large panels depicting a group of figures in a mountainous river landscape in between two smaller panels of flowers and birds.
The neck and lower part of the body adorned with geometric borders of stylised flowers
The jardiniere is signed to the base and measures ca. h. 16 cm d. 25 cm
Dates to Meiji period (1868-1912)
Condition - In a very good condition with marks and blemishes commensurate with age. A small flea bite to the side of the foot rim and some wear and discolouration to the interior. No cracks or repairs.
