Special work of an abstracted port by the Dutch artist Dick Zwier.
It is a 100 x 130 cm large canvas in pastel colours.
The painting deserves a cleanup.
There's some crackle and the work is a little dirty.
About the artist Dick Zwier (1915-1993):
IJmuiden was an important source of inspiration for Dick Zwier. His oeuvre, which consists of paintings, watercolours, drawings and murals, shows that he found his subjects to a large extent in the harbour. In his geometric compositions he made use of things like dry docks, cold stores, cranes, masts and the rigging of fishing trawlers.
Sometimes the figuration is completely reduced to an abstract play of lines. Later, the motif of roofs recur in his work, this time reduced to geometric shapes.
His work is strongly influenced by the expressionist Heinrich Campendonk.
Due to the size of the canvas, it should be picked up.
This is quite possible while observing all RIVM guidelines.
