This large, museum-grade work of the late 19th century depicts a religious scene where Pilate, along with a centurion, carelessly assists the handing over of Jesus into the hands of two Roman soldiers and gives them instructions for his death sentence. A high-quality work of great beauty and intensity.
There are small cracks to report, in random order and at different spots, colour losses and restorations, see photo. The painting needs restoration.
