Late 17th early 18th century large flintlock horse pistol Brescia Italy, dating from around 1690-1700 in good condition. The pistol has an engraved barrel with a grotesque mask merging to round with smooth bore calibre 15 mm. Barrel is signed "Gio Batta Dafino".
The very nice lock is signed "Georgiohn", and is engraved with figures and animal scenes. The lock works well and the cock holds (with good spring) the two positions.
Wooden, full stock with a repair at the stock end. Brass mounts, brass counter-plate with a cityscape decoration. Brass butt with two grotesque masks. Trigger guard is engraved with the figure of a native worrior with javelin.
Brass-tipped wooden ramrod.
