The elusive Berlin catalogue by Erwin Olaf rarely offred.
Published on the occasion of the presentation of the Berlin series, March 2013.
With a preface by Francis Hodgson, photo critic / reviewer of the Financial Times. And an essay by curator Maartje van den Heuvel, curator of Photography, University of Leiden.
For his Berlin series Olaf travelled around the German capital and decided to photograph seven locations of personal, historical and aesthetic value: the Olympic Stadium, the Rathaus Schöneberg - iconically associated with Kennedy's famous “Ich bin ein Berliner” speech - Clärchens Ballhaus, a classic 100-year-old Berlin ballroom, the old town hall in the former heart of Berlin, a public bathhouse in Neukölln, a fencing room in Westend and the interior of a Masonic lodge.
A truly bizarre and haunting catalogue
