Rembrandt van Rijn. Portrait of Jacob Haaringh (Young Haring)m 1655, 21,6 x 16,6 (platemark), 24,7 x 19 (sheet). An etching-heliogravure made in late 19th after the original Rembrandt, probably by the reputed engravers M. Charreyre or Amand-Durand, active in 1880'. Very good impression on laid paper with watermark.
Rembrandt's finantial situation deteriorated in the 1650s. To tur the tide, he put up part of his collection for public sale. This is how he came into contact with Pieter Haring, who was the auctioneer. Haringh's portrait is one of the darkest print made by Rembrandt
