On the back is the hallmark of the Società Ceramica Richard (Ginori), founded in Milan by Giulio Richard.

The Colandine model takes its name from the English manufacture of Wales which spread it in the mid-19 century.
Like the other 'English use' models, it is made using the 'transferware' technique.
It is characterised by a 'fairytale garden', of oriental taste with pagodas, flowers and foamy waves of a stream in the foreground; it has been reproduced by many Italian and European manufacturers.

Historical mention:
The print proof of the model is kept at the International Museum of Ceramic Design - Civic Collection of Terraglia di Laveno-Mombello (VA).
