You are bidding on a very fine and rare old 4/4 violin, labeled Stefano Scarampella di Brescia premiato con medaglie d'argento fratello ed allievo del giuseppe fece in Mantova anno 1905. The instrument is in ready to play condition with some old repaired cracks included patched sound post crack, grafted scroll, new ebony set up and new bridge. The violin has an excellent high grained spruce of the top and two pieces back of softly flamed maple. The purfling is professionally executed and the edges are masterfully done. The varnish of golden reddish color. The whole length of the violin is 59,2 cm and the back 35,9 cm. String length 32,6 cm. The sound of this instrument is of a charming character, rich, warm, sweet and beautiful colors, depth and great carrying power.
