The original etchings were published by Martin Fabiani in 1942 in an edition of 226.

These reproductions are from 1975 in a facsimile edition authorised by Martin Fabiani.
Printed in France on bouffant paper by the Papeteries de Casteljoux.
The prints are from copy no. 1724, though the individual prints are not numbered.

A scan of the justification of the copy (last 4 photos) will be sent by email to the Buyer.

The prints are part of a series of 31 different animal images created by Picasso between 1936 and 1942, intended to illustrate the Histoire Naturelle, originally published between 1749 and 1788 by Georges-Louis Leclerc, Comte de Buffon (Natural history scientist, 1707-1788).
