A Bishop chest cross in gilt silver
Made by the Master Silversmith Giuseppe Vernaccini in his workshop in Macerata (Papal state), second half of the 1700s.
The information about the hallmarks were taken from the book by Anna Bulgari Calissoni, Maestri Argentieri Gemmari e Orafi degli Stati della Chiesa
The cabochon is a semi-precious stone.
One of the four prongs of the setting is missing, but the stone is firmly attached to the cross.
The gilding is likely made with mercury.
Dimensions, state of preservation and finesse of processing are easily visible from photos.
